Cam-las carolinas

Mutual Support Center- Las Carolinas, Caguas

CAM- Las Carolinas is a community organization that subsists on the basis of donations and solidarity work. Community members occupied a school that was closed by the government in May 2017 and organized a Communal Kitchen to attend local needs after Hurricane Maria. The Kitchen served lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to about 205 community members per day until the Las Carolinas got electricity back in March 2018. The work then shifted to food delivery Monday, Wednesday and Friday to about 80 elderly residents, mostly people living alone and with medical and mobility needs.

The other main projects to economically sustain the CAM include a community thrift shop and an activity room for elderly residents that offers workshops, arts and crafts, and gardening.
